The new Galaxy Tab is the first of its kind to sport a 7.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus display at a 1280x800 pixel resolution. Samsung's new tablet is an Android 3.1 Honeycomb-powered device that can also act as a smart TV remote control.
Dimensions: The Galaxy Tab 7.7 is remarkably slim and has dimensions of 196.7 x 133 x 7.89mm. In addition, it weighs only 340 grams.
Display: The device sports a 7.7-inch 1280x800 pixel Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touch screen at 196 ppi pixel density.
Processor: The new Galaxy Tab 7.7 is powered by a 1.4GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM and an Exynos chipset.
Operating System: The new Samsung Galaxy Tab will run on the Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS. However, it is expected to receive an update to the latest Android version - 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich - later this year.
Memory: The Samsung device comes with 16/32/64GB memory configurations and has a microSD card slot that allows memory to be expanded to 32GB.
Connectivity: The Tab 7.7 supports HSPA+ 21mbps networks and supports LTE too. The Galaxy Tab also has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, NFC, Bluetooth A2DP and microUSB 2.0 versions.
Camera: The Galaxy Tab 7.7 features a 3.15 megapixel LED flash-enabled rear-facing camera with 720p video capture capability. It also sports a 2 megapixel front-facing camera for video calling. The camera also includes features like Geo-tagging, face and smile detection.
Input Features: Like all other Galaxy tablets and smartphones, the new tab also comes with Samsung's TouchWiz User Interface.
Battery: According to Samsung, the Tab 7.7 will have a 5100 mAh battery that provides up to 10 hours of video playback.
Other Features: The tab will be available in metallic gray and white, as of now. In addition, it will boast features like SNS integration, TV-out, MP4/Xvid/WMV/H.264/H.263 player, MP3/WAV/WMA/eAAC+ player, Organizer, Image/video editor, Document editor/viewer, Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, Picasa integration and Voice memo.
Finally, the Galaxy Tab will carry the SAFE certification - which will help the company get enterprise users - and features such as Mobile Device Management, on-device encryption and virtual private network support, according to Samsung's announcement at CES.
The device will currently be released only as a Verizon 4G LTE model and, if rumors are true, could cost anything between $400 and $500.
